Pesticide Use

About us

Pesticide use in TAFE NSW

In delivering high quality training services to our communities, we own and operate a wide range of facilities and land in NSW.

There are many times when we need to use a range of pesticides (this term covers products like insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and rodenticides) to reduce negative or undesirable effects as a result of uncontrolled pests like weeds, fungi, termites, rodents, spiders and other vermin.

Whenever pesticides are determined as the most appropriate control measure, we do everything we can to ensure they are applied in a safe, responsible manner, minimising the risk of harm to the community and the environment. All applications of pesticides are carried out by staff/contractors with a valid ChemCert AQF3 Accreditation.

“To further minimise the risk of harm to our students, customers, staff, contractors and the general public, we are making available our Pesticide Use Plan to everyone. ”

Our Pesticide Use Plan

To further minimise the risk of harm to our students, customers, staff, contractors and the general public, the Pesticide Use Plan was made available to everyone for awareness. The Plan was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Pesticides Regulation 2009 (the Regulation).

The plan sets out how we will notify members of the community of pesticide applications in public places that we own or control. The plan covered:

  • what public places are covered by the plan
  • who regularly uses these public places and an estimated level of use
  • how and when we will provide the community with information about its pesticide applications in public places (i.e. what notification arrangements will be used)
  • how the community can access this plan and get more information about notification arrangements
  • how future reviews of the plan will be conducted.
