We are over the moon for all four of our local North Coast TAFE WorldSkills Australia finalists! Shannon Thompson (Tiling), Isabella DiMattia (Hairdressing VETiS), Hannah Elliot (Beauty Therapy) and Nicholas O'Mara (Carpentry) all went off to Melbourne and represented their respective trades, family, friends, teachers and the entire Clarence Valley community with distinction and pride.
Just making the finals in Melbourne puts these students in the highest category of up and coming industry talent in the country. Check out this story in the The Daily Examiner on Isabella and Shannon who managed silver and bronze medals at the competition. Unbelievable effort!
Well, what a time North Coast TAFE had at Surfing the Coldstream Festival Yamba on Saturday! We were right in the mix and we loved every minute of it! Proud supporters and major sponsors of this truly wonderful and unique community event!
Our fantastic hair and beauty teams delivered countless massages to a very appreciative crowd well into the thousands. Also, our enthusiastic gang of events students got a taste of what it's like to be part of such a large and wonderful cultural event helping with everything from welcoming touring musicians through to experiencing first hand what it takes to oversee enviro friendly waste management on a large scale. What an effort!
A special thanks to our wonderful teachers Megan, Justine and Linda. :-)
A huge thankyou to all the volunteers, sponsors, the event committee and most of all, the community, for supporting what was another spectacular Surfing the Coldstream Festival for 2016.

See you there!
Well well! The results are in and to say we are proud of all our local representatives at the WorldSkills Australia finals in Melbourne would be an understatement!
Let's kick it off with local tiling apprentice Shannon Thompson! Shannon picked up Bronze in the Wall & Floor Tiling category!
Just making the national finals is an indication of the high quality of Shannon's workmanship and also recognition of the fact that he is one of the best young tiling apprentices in the country. Winning the bronze medal is an unbelievable achievement under massive pressure and it deserves to be recognised.
So, well done Shannon and thanks for doing yourself, your family, Grafton, the trade you love and North Coast TAFE proud.
