TAFE NSW Macksville has a relaxed, friendly and social atmosphere. Wi Fi access makes our Tuscan gardens a popular place to study, while a wood fired pizza oven, café and music playing through the grounds during class breaks adds to the casual vibe.
We specialise in providing vocationally oriented entry-level education and training across the study areas of business, community services and information technology. The campus also features a sustainable herb and vegetable garden for students and the community to enjoy.
Macksville lies on the banks of the Nambucca River on the homelands of the Gumbaynggirr Aboriginal people, surrounded by fertile lands producing bananas, crops, beef and dairy products.

Macksville TAFE’s own Head Teacher of Education, Employment and Support Jillian Ashley recently had an article published in the triannual journal Fine Print by Victorian Adult Literacy and Basic Education Council (valbec). Valbec aims to lead the adult literacy field through identifying issues of importance to practitioners and facilitating positive change.
Jill’s article titled ‘High visibility in the community” which talks about project based learning in Macksville, Bowraville and Nambucca Heads. Clearly explains that when education is flexible and tailored to student and communities needs there is a higher completion rate and an overall feeling of fulfilment in the learning process. By understanding, the rationale that adults learn most efficiently if learning reflects the needs and interests of their lives. Jill’s team have tailored programs and found ways to engage student’s curiosity in learning and in turn, opens doors to the community and move students onto further training and employment.
