Looking for a career as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA)? Or want to understand the practices and duty of care in the health and medication industry? The Statement of Attainment in Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set, has been endorsed by the health care industry, and suitable for care or support workers who hold a Certificate III or higher qualification. Upon completion, the units covered may also provide credit towards a range of qualifications for community services and health care courses, like the Cert III in Basic Health Care or Diploma of Mental Health. A PCA career may involve working in an Aged Care or Residential Care facility, or provide direct personal services in a private home or community setting. You may be tasked with the distribution and management of prescribed over the counter medications to your client, based on their or a representative’s assessment.
