Are you an animal-lover looking to put your passion to practical use while developing animal care skills? The Certificate II in Animal Studies is an entry-level course to prepare you for jobs working in the companion, captive or veterinary nursing industry, with plenty of opportunities to expand your skills upon completion.

This Certificate II will teach you specific animal care and handling skills and improve your ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues about individual animal’s requirements. If you find this course sparks higher-level career aspirations, we have three career paths for you to consider: Certificate III in Companion Animal Services (working in pet shops, animal welfare leagues and boarding kennels/catteries), Certificate III in Captive Animals (working in zoos and wildlife parks) or Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (working in a vet clinic).

Additionally, you will gain practical workplace experience, completing a minimum of four hours per week (paid or voluntary) in an appropriate animal care facility for the 12-month duration of the course.

Your government subsidised fee, and your eligibility for concessions, exemptions and scholarships, are all calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

The 2017 subsidised fees indicated on this page are indicative only and based on 2016 fees. The state government may make some small changes to fees and subsidies for 2017 enrolments and we will update our site if and when that happens.
