Course information

This qualification has become superseded across Australia and an updated version of this qualification will soon be available. This means that North Coast TAFE may continue to deliver the old qualification for 12 months from the date of change. Students enrolling during this time must complete the qualification by the transition date or transition to a new qualification when it becomes available. Would you like to be able to design and make simple clothes for yourself and your family whilst kick starting your career in fashion? If you are creative and have a strong interest in fashion and design, this is the course for you. 

This introductory course of study in fashion design could give you the skills to provide you with an ongoing sustainable income. Why not be paid for something you love doing?
Learn hands-on skills and improve your confidence in producing design sketches, sewing basic patterns and assembling garments you have designed yourself. You can even create your own textile designs and incorporate these into your unique apparel.

You will be provided with course notes and practical demonstrations on the tasks you will learn and will be supported by passionate and professional trainers with extensive experience in the industry. You will be required to purchase materials for some practical components of the course.
Upon completion of this course you may wish to further advance your skills with the Certificate III Applied Fashion Design and Technology which is also available on campus or online through North Coast TAFE.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian traineeship pathway, including a school based traineeship.
