Are you a people person? Are you looking to qualify in a growing industry and gain a competitive advantage in securing work?Our Certificate II in Retail Services will teach you how to merchandise, market, sell, and control stock. It will equip you with skills in customer service, advising customers, theft minimisation, and give you an insight into the global world of sales with online shopping. Employers look favourably upon graduates - if you have no experience and want that edge in gaining employment in all areas of entry-level retail employment this is the entry level course for you.
Literacy and NumeracyNorth Coast TAFE wants you to know that while this qualification has no formal entry requirements, we do want you to succeed, so we are providing information about the skills and knowledge that would help you complete this qualification. You do need to have, or be able to attain, a level of literacy and numeracy that will help you complete your course and ultimately to work in your chosen field.Students who complete this qualification level will gain the skills necessary to undertake routine activities and provide solutions to a limited range of predictable problems. Graduates will develop basic knowledge of an area of work and learning and will be able to talk and write about these.North Coast TAFE can provide support for reading, writing, maths and English Language. If you would like to know more about our support options please contact us.Work PlacementStudents employed as apprentices or trainees must have a signed Registered Training Contract stating North Coast TAFE is the Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Employers - for further information visit Australian Apprenticeships Pathways.Work experience across all the retail courses is location dependent. TAFE has many arrangements with employers, who take students on placement, often as paid employees performing night fill and similar duties. Students are encouraged to secure their own work experience positions via the interactive and retail work based assignments during the course, where they investigate and report on various retailers.

A TAFE NSW Certificate IV or Diploma could give you up 6 to 12 months advanced standing in a university degree and some Advanced Diplomas offer even more credit.

Working with one of our RPL assessors we’ll review your life and work experiences as well as any previous study you may have done to confirm just what we can match up with your current course of study.
Note: Some short, licensing or compliance courses, eg Food Safety for Supervisors or First Aid are not granted RPL as demonstrated competency is required by regulatory authorities.
