About the course

Course Number: 10082NAT-01V02

Are you an international student, resident or citizen from a non-English language background, with advanced levels of English language, looking to improve for further study or professional work? The Certificate III in Advanced English for Further Study is designed to enable speakers of other languages (including international students, newly arrived migrants, permanent and temporary residents, citizens and visitors) to participate more fully in Australian community life, work and study. All North Coast TAFE English Language teachers are highly qualified and experienced in delivering English language to speakers of other languages. Most campuses have specialised English language classes, where the focus is on spoken as well as written English language. Our campuses are well-equipped with English language resources, both paper-based and online. North Coast TAFE libraries have a wide collection of learning resources available for students.

Our English language courses are practical, interactive and structured to meet the most essential needs of second language learners. The focus is on developing language skills to use in authentic, everyday contexts. Students are supported to develop pathways to work and further vocational training.

Students will be assessed via practical demonstrations, short answer questions, oral questioning, written tasks, portfolios and role play. This pre-vocational program requires an appropriate level of English language proficiency and an appropriate visa or citizenship, which is determined by an ESOL teacher at a pre-enrolment interview/assessment. Your passport and visa documents are required for pre-enrolment. Successful graduates will be eligible to apply for any Certificate III or IV vocational qualification.

Calculate fees

Your government subsidised fee, and your eligibility for concessions, exemptions and scholarships, are all calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

The 2017 subsidised fees indicated on this page are indicative only and based on 2016 fees. The state government may make some small changes to fees and subsidies for 2017 enrolments and we will update our site if and when that happens.
