This qualification is designed to meet the needs of concreters working in concreting operations on residential and commercial projects.The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as a specialist field of work.The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. You do need to have, or be able to attain, a level of literacy and numeracy that will help you complete your course and ultimately to work in your chosen field. Students who complete this qualification level will have developed a range of technical and communication skills that will enable them to complete mostly routine tasks and interpret and act on information available to them. They will provide solutions to predictable and sometimes unpredictable problems and in a work setting may take some responsibility for the work of others.North Coast TAFE can provide support for reading, writing, maths and English Language. A TAFE NSW Certificate IV or Diploma could give you up 6 to 12 months advanced standing in a university degree and some Advanced Diplomas offer even more credit.
