Would you like to become part of a tight-knit group of workers in an industry that makes a massive contribution to the Australian diet, culture and economy? Join TAFE NSW's Certificate III in Meat Processing (Slaughtering) for reliable work in the abattoir industry.
This meat processing course will provide you with an overview of the meat industry as well as knowledge of how to comply with Quality Assurance and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) requirements and safe work, hygiene and sanitation practices. You will also learn important slaughter floor operations, knife sharpening and other fundamental skills of an abattoir slaughterer and meat cutter, including how to provide solutions to predictable and sometimes unpredictable workplace problems.
Qualify for immediate employment or go on to more advanced NSW TAFE courses and butcher training towards a comprehensive career in Australia's vast meat production industry.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
After achieving this qualification, candidates may undertake:
A TAFE NSW Certificate IV or Diploma could give you up 6 to 12 months advanced standing in a university degree and some Advanced Diplomas offer even more credit.
