Are you an arty, crafty, creative person who would like to turn these skills into a career in pastry? Our Certificate III Patisserie qualification is where you can begin your creative career in all things sweet. You will learn not only about cake decorating and finishing, but also pastry, chocolate and icecream techniques and skills.This qualification provides training for pastry chefs who need to use a wide range of patisserie skills. You will learn to use discretion and judgement and will develop a sound knowledge of kitchen operations. You will learn to work with some independence and under limited supervision, and may provide operational advice and support to team members. Our TAFE Commercial Cookery qualifications give you the complete 'Paddock to Plate' or 'Farm to Fork' experience. As a student you will have the opportunity to work in our campus restaurants (The Nightcap in Wollongbar, Caldera in Kingscliff). Our Wollongbar campus in particular, has a horticulture section which provides access fresh organic vegetable produce, as well as an extensive herb garden, orchard, and a worm farm. This ability to select and work with real ingredients from the source is a unique feature of our offerings.This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.Individuals may enter SIT31113 Certificate III in Patisserie with limited or novocational experience and without a lower level qualification.Literacy and NumeracyWhile this training package does not specify any entry requirements, students do need to have, or be able to attain, a level of literacy and numeracy competency that will enable them to gain the required skills and knowledge to complete their course and ultimately to work in their chosen field. North Coast TAFE is committed to ensuring that students receive training, assessment and support services that meet their individual needs. Therefore, before commencing this course, you may be required to complete a literacy/numeracy assessment. This assessment is designed to identify students who may be at risk of not being able to complete their course due to the level of Literacy and Numeracy skills required to complete the course.
When you finish this course you may be eligible to do SIT40713 Certificate IVin Patisserie.
A TAFE NSW Certificate IV or Diploma could give you up 6 to 12 months advanced standing in a university degree and some Advanced Diplomas offer even more credit.
