Are you looking for an excellent foundation in fashion design on which to base an exciting fashion career? TAFE NSW's Certificate IV in Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising will teach you skills in design, product development, business and merchandising for employment in design and production support roles in the clothing and fashion industry. You will learn to apply quality standards, identify fibres, fabrics and textiles, calculate cost estimates for fashion products, and liaise with fashion industry participants. You can also choose from a wide range of electives including the application of colour theory to fashion design development, application of advanced patternmaking principles, and use of electronic fashion design tools. Electives also include the analysis of customer behaviour for specific fashion markets, planning and implementation of production, and the promotion of products and services. Enjoy work as an assistant designer, merchandising assistant or specialist production technician (such as a patternmaker or sewing machinist), or use your skills and knowledge as a basis for more advanced fashion design courses.

North Coast TAFE offers a wide choice of courses, some that attract government subsidies and some that do not. The fees payable will vary, depending on your personal circumstances, your study history and the course you choose.

Calculate fees

Your government subsidised fee, and your eligibility for concessions, exemptions and scholarships, are all calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

The 2017 subsidised fees indicated on this page are indicative only and based on 2016 fees. The state government may make some small changes to fees and subsidies for 2017 enrolments and we will update our site if and when that happens.
