Are you a highly reliable person with good communication skills and a desire to help others? Our Certificate IV in Dental Assisting could be the perfect course for you. This course will equip you with the skills required to effectively assist a dentist, dental hygienist, dental prosthetist, dental therapist of oral health therapist in undertaking oral health care procedures. As well as developing specialist skills and knowledge in the area of oral health promotion, you will also gain strong foundational skills in maintaining high standards of infection control, assisting with dental radiography, preparing for health care procedures and processing reusable medical devices and equipment.

As a component of the course, you will undertake 250 hours of work placement. This will give you valuable experience in the practical aspects of a dental assistant's role. Undertaking this course through North Coast TAFE will also give you access to the Shared Health Research and Education Campus, where you will learn in a supportive environment alongside student doctors and other allied health professions studying with the University of NSW and the University of Newcastle.
