Current online cybersecurity threats are on the increase and cybercrime is costing billions. IT Security training and education is key to stopping and preventing cybersecurity incidents. Learners will develop skills in designing, installing and securing a medium-size enterprise network. This qualification provides skills and knowledge in information and communications technology (ICT) environments to complement existing ICT knowledge by specialising in IT security concepts, technologies and practices in a practical hands on environment. Students will undertake training aligned with industry knowledge areas such as NIST, CISCO and CISSP. This 12 month course will provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to implement IT security initiatives and protect against cybersecurity threats.The course is structured around those with existing ICT knowledge and for those who could be working in IT wanting to specialise in security. The course will provide students with a solid practical understanding of IT Security concepts and technologies that they can use to be implemented in the workplace immediately.

You do need to have, or be able to attain, a level of literacy and numeracy that will help you complete your course and ultimately to work in your chosen field. Students who complete this qualification level will have a broad range of skills and knowledge that can be applied to specialised and/or skilled work areas. A TAFE NSW Certificate IV or Diploma could give you up 6 to 12 months advanced standing in a university degree and some Advanced Diplomas offer even more credit.

Note: Some short, licensing or compliance courses, eg Food Safety for Supervisors or First Aid are not granted RPL as demonstrated competency is required by regulatory authorities.
