About the course

Course Number: CUL40111-01V01

If you have leadership qualities and a particular interest in utilising them as a library assistant, our Certificate IV in Library, Information and Cultural Services is designed to help develop the skills and tools you need to find employment in the sector. Our library courses have been developed out of local need. Our teaching staff work in libraries on the North Coast and regular meetings are held with a wide range of library representatives Australia-wide, to ensure the course is relevant to today's work environment.

You will gain an in-depth knowledge of library systems and processes, including how to organise and maintain library collections, how to search library databases, use more advanced cataloguing tools, use and support multi-media equipment. Face-to-face customer service skills will be developed as well as a chance to use social media skills to communicate with customers and colleagues. After studying at this level you may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for their output.

Successful graduates of this online course will be qualified to apply for roles as a library assistant and may choose to go on to study the Diploma of Library, Information and Cultural Services.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian traineeship pathway.
