The Certificate IV in Water Industry Operations supports students seeking a technical or supervising career path in the water industry requiring increasingly specialised technical skills or those who require a broad range of skills.The breadth, depth and complexity of knowledge and competencies cover selecting, adapting and transferring skills and knowledge to new environments and providing technical advice and some leadership in resolution of specified problems. This would be applied across a range of roles in a variety of contexts with some complexity in the extent and choice of options available.The course competencies enable an individual with this qualification to:- demonstrate some relevant theoretical knowledge- apply a range of well-developed skills- apply known solutions to a variety of predictable problems- perform processes that require a range of well-developed skills, where some discretion and judgement is required- interpret available information, using discretion and judgement- take responsibility for own outputs in work and learning- take limited responsibility for the output of others.

The learner must be working in the water industry or have a training arrangement in the industry.Literacy and NumeracyNorth Coast TAFE wants you to know that while this qualification has no formal entry requirements, we do want you to succeed, so we are providing information about the skills and knowledge that would help you perform this qualification. You do need to have, or be able to attain, a level of literacy and numeracy that will help you complete your course and ultimately to work in your chosen field. Students who complete this qualification level will have a broad range of skills and knowledge that can be applied to specialised and/or skilled work areas. They will be able to identify, analyse, compare and act on information from a range of sources and have a limited responsibility for the organisation of others.North Coast TAFE can provide support for reading, writing, maths and English Language. You will receive credit for all Certificate IV level competency units you have completed under the Certificate III in Water Operations (17496).
Process senior operator in the water or wastewater industry.
A TAFE NSW Certificate IV or Diploma could give you up 6 to 12 months advanced standing in a university degree and some Advanced Diplomas offer even more credit.
