This course is for qualified beauty therapists. You will acquire advanced beauty therapy treatments, including aesthetic aromatherapy, use of essential oils, epilation and make-up for photography. You may choose from electives in the specialist beauty workplace training and assessmentor small business management areas. You must complete all 22 core units plus eleven (11) elective units of competency to receive the qualification. This is a graded qualification and you can gain a result of distinction, credit or pass for many units. People considering enrolment in beauty courses need to be aware that skills development will require students to practise on each other and that industry dress codes will apply. This will necessarily involve touch but will always be practised and applied in accordance with industry codes of practice and ethics. Details will be provided to intending students during pre-enrolment information sessions or to enrolled students by the teacher.
North Coast TAFE wants you to know that while this qualification has no formal entry requirements, we do want you to succeed, so we are providing information about the skills and knowledge that would help you complete this qualification. You do need to have, or be able to attain, a level of literacy and numeracy that will help you complete your course and ultimately to work in your chosen field. Students who complete this level of qualification will have the skills and knowledge necessary to analyse information and provide solutions to sometimes complex problems in a skilled or paraprofessional work environment. They will have personal responsibility and autonomy in performing complex technical operations and have acquired the communication skills necessary to transfer their skills and knowledge to others.North Coast TAFE can provide support for reading, writing, maths and English Language. A TAFE NSW Certificate IV or Diploma could give you up 6 to 12 months advanced standing in a university degree and some Advanced Diplomas offer even more credit.
