About the course

Course Number: HLT52015-01V02

Do you work or want to work in a remedial massage practice as a self-employed or independent practitioner or within a more comprehensive health service? Our Diploma of Remedial Massage is the qualification where you will learn how to provide remedial massage treatment to clients with specific needs. This may involve injury management, rehabilitation, palliative care, aged care and working with women and children.

This qualification provides you with the skills and knowledge to work as a remedial massage therapist. It covers the provision of remedial massage to clients with specific needs such as injury management, rehabilitation, palliative care, aged care and women and children. You will acquire knowledge in the chemical, biological and biophysical aspects of massage and in the philosophy, principles and practice of complementary health care. This will enable you to work safely and ethically with your clients and in ways that allow you to establish and maintain your status as a health care professional in public or private employment.

As a graduate of the Diploma, you will be able to demonstrate understanding of a broad knowledge base incorporating theoretical concepts, with substantial depth in some areas.

This course is recognised for registration by all massage therapy associations. On completion of this course you will be able to operate as an independent practitioner in your own business, or with a suite of other specialist services in a paramedical environment.  All health funds (including Medibank Private) recognise this qualification for HICAPS.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian traineeship pathway.
