Are you a make-up enthusiast looking to work in the exciting world of film, television or theatre? Opportunities for make-up specialists in the Australian entertainment industry are growing, and North Coast TAFE offers the chance to learn from professionals currently working in the local market. The Diploma of Specialist Make-up Services is creative and dynamic, combining relevant specialist electives offered by very few other providers, with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by working on television and film sets throughout the course. The diploma combines class and workshops, simulated workplace experience and workplace evidence for your portfolio upon graduation.Work PlacementPortfolio of workplace evidence required. This also assists students to form their own networks for future employment. The teacher assists with developing your workplace portfolio.

To achieve this qualification it is recommended that you have already achieved generalist make-up and/or hairdressing skills. You will be required for an Interview prior to enrolment in this course.Literacy and NumeracyNorth Coast TAFE wants you to know that while this qualification has no formal entry requirements, we do want you to succeed, so we are providing information about the skills and knowledge that would help you complete this qualification. You do need to have, or be able to attain, a level of literacy and numeracy that will help you complete your course and ultimately to work in your chosen field. Students who complete this level of qualification will have the skills and knowledge necessary to analyse information and provide solutions to sometimes complex problems in a skilled or paraprofessional work environment. They will have personal responsibility and autonomy in performing complex technical operations and have acquired the communication skills necessary to transfer their skills and knowledge to others.North Coast TAFE can provide support for reading, writing, maths and English Language. Some of these items will be provided, and for some items (eg scissors) recommendations and preferred suppliers will be given. All students are encouraged to purchase the trainee uniform of black pants and tunic top, at a cost of $60.
This qualification can lead you to study in the Diploma of Beauty Therapy, Diploma of Salon Management or further study in specialist areas.

A TAFE NSW Certificate IV or Diploma could give you up 6 to 12 months advanced standing in a university degree and some Advanced Diplomas offer even more credit.
