If you hold a current trade certificate in plumbing and are looking to broaden your skills and work opportunities and maintain current professional development practices, our Statement of Attainment in Backflow Prevention course has been designed to develop the skills and knowledge to test and maintain backflow prevention as requested by Water Authorities. Public health and safety is paramount in regards to drinking water, therefore any backflow prevention devices installed and commissioned must be maintained to the highest standards of efficiency. On completion of the course you will have an understanding of the continuing need to satisfy licensing/legislative requirements.Practical skill sessions will be integrated with theory lectures throughout the course so students, through hands-on time, will gain detailed knowledge of each device. At the completion of the course, participants will be required to undertake a practical assessment, in which they will identify and test a minimum of three backflow prevention devices. A theory test covering all course topics is also included. To enrol in this course, you must hold either the Certificate III in Plumbing or a plumbing licence issued by the NSW Fair Trading. Recognised prior learning is available for experienced trades people with extensive industry experience. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Why study something again if you already have the skills and knowledge? Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is about helping you get your qualification faster and getting you to where you want to be!
Working with one of our RPL assessors we’ll review your life and work experiences as well as any previous study you may have done to confirm just what we can match up with your current course of study.
Note: Some short, licensing or compliance courses, eg Food Safety for Supervisors or First Aid are not granted RPL as demonstrated competency is required by regulatory authorities.
