This Statement of Attainment is for people requiring the knowledge and skills to
apply basic thermal cutting and welding techniques using the manual metal arc
You will learn basic cutting skills to shape and form steel sections and join
them to an acceptable standard such as AS1554.1 GP (General Purpose)
This Statement of Attainment is designed to meet the needs of community and
industry sectors such as:
- individuals requiring base entry skills who are seeking employment with
small/medium enterprises in the engineering industry
- individuals who wish to gain skills that articulate into traineeships and
apprenticeships in an engineering or allied industry
- Indigenous students from remote areas who receive training via TAFE NSW
mobile welding units
- farmers and others engaged in managing and maintaining agriculture equipment
- individuals and communities that are geographically isolated.
There are no entry requirements for this course.
General purpose welder
A TAFE NSW Certificate IV or Diploma could give you up 6 to 12 months advanced standing in a university degree and some Advanced Diplomas offer even more credit.
