The Course is designed to improve the training undertaken by Owner Builder permit holders. The course will provide an opportunity for the NSW Fair Trading to be assured that those completing the course have received consistent industry information relevant to the construction of a dwelling, (which includes a house, terrace, town-house, garage, swimming pool and certain other structures and improvements) resulting in the applicant having a sound underpinning knowledge of the compliance issues and construction process to supervise and coordinate the construction, alteration, repair and/or additions to a dwelling.
The owner builder's activities related to building work which may attract a 7 year structural warranty period therefore it is critical that emphasis is placed on the Units of Competency, the nominated text, and assessment process which must be strictly adhered to, to ensure the ongoing protection of the consumer.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, before commencing building work you must be in possession of a current Statement of Attainment in General Construction Induction in New South Wales CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry.

A TAFE NSW Certificate IV or Diploma could give you up 6 to 12 months advanced standing in a university degree and some Advanced Diplomas offer even more credit.
