This course describes the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in a small network. Students learn how to configure a router and a switch for basic functionality. By the end of this course, students will be able to:
              Determine how a router will forward traffic based on the contents of a routing table.
              Explain how switching operates in a small to medium-sized business network.
              Use monitoring tools and network management protocols to troubleshoot data networks.
              Configure monitoring tools available for small to medium-sized business networks.
              Configure initial settings on a network device.
              Configure Ethernet switch ports.
              Implement VLANs.
              Implement static routing.
              Implement DHCP on a router.
              Implement network address translation (NAT).
              Implement access control lists (ACLs) to filter traffic.
 
The 48-hour, instructor-led course includes activities using Packet Tracer, hands-on lab work, and a wide array of assessment types and tools. Upon successful completion, students will be prepared to take the Cisco CCENT® certification exam after completing a set of two courses (CCNA 1 and CCNA 2).

Reduced and subsidised fees

You could be eligible for subsidised or reduced fees if this training is subsidised by the NSW Government but eligibility criteria apply. These subsidised and reduced fees, if available, will be displayed below as ‘Subsidised student fee’. For some subsidised courses the subsidy available to eligible students may be in form of a ‘Concession Fee’, ‘Exemption’, or ‘Fee-Free scholarship’ and be displayed accordingly.

    There are no fee exemptions, concessions or subsidies available for this price. You are required to contribute to the full cost of your course. Your tuition fee includes all essential study materials.
    Extra study resources may be available to enhance your learning and will attract an additional charge.
    You may also be eligible for a VET Student Loan for some Diploma and Advanced Diploma level courses.

Payment options, loans and instalments

Easy payment options available! At North Coast TAFE you can choose from a range of easy, flexible payment options to help make completing your dream course a reality.

  • Pay by instalments

    For many courses, you can choose to pay you course by instalment.

    Short courses (from 6 days to up to 10 weeks): 25% deposit required before starting the course with the remaining 75% due half way through.

    Most other courses: 25% deposit plus monthly payments due the last business day before the 15th of each month. The number of instalments available, up to a maximum of 12 (3 for concession fees), are calculated on the maximum duration of the course with final payment due 4 weeks prior to the end of the course.
