You will learn about Microsoft Publisher in two three hour sessions and receive course notes and TAFE PLUS Certificate of Participation. Basic PC and Windows skills (as covered in the Introduction to Computers course) and knowledge of a word processing programme such as Microsoft Word would be an advantage to have, but not essential. Course topics are: - Starting Publisher - The Publisher screen - Saving, opening and printing publications - Creating a publication from scratch using Blank Publications - Page setup and layout guides - Text frames - Formatting text. - ClipArt frames - Picture frames (using digital pictures.) - Cropping and recolouring graphics. - WordArt frames - Lines and shapes - Manipulating frames - moving, deleting, grouping, etc. - Layers, backgrounds - Working with multiple pages - Using colour and colour fills. - Nudging, rotating, aligning, grouping objects. - Creating columns - Creating tables. - Border art - Useful layouts - three panel brochures, four page newsletters on A4 paper. - Using the built-in wizards to create invitations, greeting cards, and business cards. - The Design Checker.
