Once you have checked any entry requirements for the course you want to study, including visa requirements, previous learning or experience and required English language skills, you can apply by completing the Application Form on the NSW Government International website and submitting online, by post, in person or through an agent.

If you are considering applying to study in Australia, you should be aware of some important information.
There are several types of visas covering differing types of study in Australia. You should be aware of the class of visa you wish to apply for and any requirements you may have to meet in order to successfully obtain that visa. For most vocational training courses you must have completed a level of study equivalent to the Australian Year 11 or Year 12. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection website can also help you with this information.
You may need to sit an English test or demonstrate English language competency to a specific level before enrolling in a TAFE course. TAFE NSW offers English language programs that you can take prior to your course to ensure you are ready. Our Course List specifies English language prerequisites.

You can work up to 40 hours per fortnight on a student visa in Australia.
Tuition fees vary depending on the qualification; there are also administration fees to cover as well as accommodation and living costs. The course list provides basic tuition costs for your chosen course but you can contact us to help work through the range of costs you need to consider.
If you are on an international student visa you are required to study at least 20 hours per week.
TAFE courses are more skills oriented, preparing you for the hands-on work needed in your job. Skills and qualifications obtained through TAFE study provide a strong foundation, and sometimes an accelerated pathway, to enable completion of further academic study and higher qualifications at university.
