Here in Student Central we are preparing for Wear it Purple Day, which is being held in the main quad here at CHEC from 10am to 1pm on Tuesday 30th August.
Wear it Purple wants young people everywhere to know that they have the right to be proud of who they are! Sex, sexuality or gender identity does not change this. So wear purple tomorrow if you agree.
What's on at Grafton TAFE this week?
Join in our FREE self-defence classes, come along for a manicure or pedicure from our beauty students in the training salon, or book in for the play session with our child services students on Thursday morning. And don't forget the upcoming 'R U OK? Day' event, hosted by our community services students. Get amongst it!
"My teacher said 'it's OK, she's not in the wrong room', so I suppose I was treated differently from the start because everyone was wondering why I was in the plumbing room."
North Coast TAFE female apprentice students and automotive trades head teacher Graham Armstrong spoke to ABC North Coast about how we are challenging gender stereotypes here at NCTAFE. #WomanInPower
Introducing another of our amazing WorldSkills Australia representatives from the Mid Coast...apprentice plumber Jordan Williams.
For the last twelve months, Jordan has shown dedication and committment to his trade...so much so that he travelled more than two hours from where he lives in Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour just for study. Jordan is currently employed by BJ Crowley Plumbing Pty Ltd and placed second at the regional competition.
“I didn’t even expect to get a place so I was very pleased. It was extremely stressful and I can’t even imagine what the next level will be like. I’d like to see how far I could go, so I’m really putting in the hard yards to prepare".
Jordan is one of nineteen North Coast TAFE students who will all be representing the Mid Coast & Northern Rivers regions at the National Competition in Melbourne from 6-8 October.
Great work Jordan...we're behind you all of the way!
