Spot the mannequin! Our ‘Glam Me Up’ YES Program students from Maclean High School and Pacific Valley Christian School are clearly having a terrible time learning about hair, beauty & makeup techniques at TAFE! Love it girls!
Maclean High School YES Program Nursing students this week went on an excursion to Mareeba Aged Care. While there the students participated in roleplays, engaged with residents, and learnt how to use various Nursing and Aged Care equipment and resources. A big ‘thank you’ to Maclean Bowling Club for generously assisting with the transport of the students.
Our very lucky YES Program Animal Studies students visited Dolphin Marine Magic - Pet Porpoise Pool Pty Ltd in Coffs Harbour this week and participated in an education and conservation ‘ed-ventre’. The park’s founder explained the importance of the coral exhibit to students before the students were introduced to ‘Ellie’ the seal. The day was capped off with visits to the penguins, dolphins, rehab turtles and meeting the little rescued NZ fur seal Scottie! Phew…What a day!
YES Program Carpentry students completed their first project this week – a folding stool!
Great work from the Maclean High School and Pacific Valley Christian School students.
We look forward to seeing the planter boxes next week!
The YES Hospitality students explored Maclean High School Agriculture Farm and picked up some tips about fish farming, growing macadamia’s and the reason why you should never eat more than 3 cumquats in a day 😳
The Maclean High and Pacific Valley Christian School students will be using the produce from the farm in their cooking next week – we’re thinking jams, lemon curd and sticky chilli wings…yum!
Any other ideas are welcome!
A big thank you to the team at O’Halloran Motors for showing the Maclean YES Program Automotive students through their workshop and giving tips and hints to the students about apprenticeships and starting a career in the Automotive industry.
