RUOK? Day at Maclean TAFE - Thursday 13 September 2018
Our little message for the day was - Simple Acts of Kindness can go a long way in putting a smile on someone’s face – we gave our students a flower and a Positive Affirmation followed by some fun games with each class to bring a smile to their faces as a reminder of how easy it can be to support and reach out to those around us and close to us in times of need or otherwise.
Clearly we’re not the only ones enjoying this warm weather!
Look who dropped in to say g’day at Maclean TAFE, today.
(Don't worry, WIRES have moved him on to a safe location :) )
Dress As A Farmer Day at Maclean TAFE
We all came together this morning to support our Aussie Farmers and Farming Communities in need and also brought a little fun to our Friday by dressing for the occasion, playing some fine country tunes and raising some funds for those suffering the effects of extreme drought.
We raised a total of $113.45 – not a bad effort for our little Maclean TAFE Community, a huge thanks to all that were involved!
It was a fabulous day had by all last Thursday at the Clarence Valley Youth One Stop Shop Maclean High School Year 9 Health & Wellbeing Exursion at Raymond Laurie Sports Centre. We set up the Virtual Reality Goggles and had an absolute blast. Thanks to everyone who made this day such a huge success for the students!
Hard day in the office for our YES Program Carpentry students! The workshop has been busy with students learning how to make planter boxes & mobile phone holders 👏🔨✏️📐📏
Spot the mannequin! Our ‘Glam Me Up’ YES Program students from Maclean High School and Pacific Valley Christian School are clearly having a terrible time learning about hair, beauty & makeup techniques at TAFE! Love it girls!
Maclean High School YES Program Nursing students this week went on an excursion to Mareeba Aged Care. While there the students participated in roleplays, engaged with residents, and learnt how to use various Nursing and Aged Care equipment and resources. A big ‘thank you’ to Maclean Bowling Club for generously assisting with the transport of the students.
Our very lucky YES Program Animal Studies students visited Dolphin Marine Magic - Pet Porpoise Pool Pty Ltd in Coffs Harbour this week and participated in an education and conservation ‘ed-ventre’. The park’s founder explained the importance of the coral exhibit to students before the students were introduced to ‘Ellie’ the seal. The day was capped off with visits to the penguins, dolphins, rehab turtles and meeting the little rescued NZ fur seal Scottie! Phew…What a day!
YES Program Carpentry students completed their first project this week – a folding stool!
Great work from the Maclean High School and Pacific Valley Christian School students.
We look forward to seeing the planter boxes next week!
