Engineering Apprentice Daniel Marks, from Wollongbar Campus, was the overall Student of the Year, because of his excellence in designing innovative engineering solutions and pursuing commercial opportunities. He was also the Apprentice of the Year and Manufacturing and Engineering Student of the Year.
Daniel acknowledged the support of his teacher, Peter Smith, in acquiring a wide range of engineering skills while completing his Certificate IV in Engineering.
Institute Director for North Coast Institute, Elizabeth McGregor, said that Daniel was chosen as the overall Student of the Year because he was the kind of graduate that employers and economies are seeking in 2016.

NSW TAFE Commission Board member, Professor Annabelle Duncan presented the award to Daniel Marks.
Leteah Mitchell, from Taree Campus, was the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year because of her considerable academic ability and her pro-active efforts as a mentor and role model to her Biripi community.
