Hands on: Foreign students learning on the North Coast

NORTH Coast TAFE is hosting six international students as part of the International Student Ambassador Program, which aims to build leadership and event management skills.

Anna Rauber, from Germany, is one of the six and is studying a Diploma of Remedial Massage at Kingscliff TAFE, while enjoying her time in the region.

As part of the ambassador program, Ms Rauber will be writing a monthly blog documenting her diverse experiences in Australia and encouraging other international students to take the dive and study in Australia.

Despite studying at Kingscliff, Ms Rauber lives at Byron Bay.

"It's the lighthouse, the pass (the point break), the long stretch of beach that runs north-south from the lighthouse at tallows to broken head, which I now call my backyard," Ms Rauber said.

"It's the ability to throw my wallet in the corner, no need to wear shoes, to just plant my feet in the sand… and breathe."

Ms Rauber has been interested in human anatomy and natural therapies for some time and it took her a while to finally decide where she wanted to study.

"After looking though many courses, universities and colleges I decided to start with a diploma of remedial massage at North Coast TAFE," she said.

"It's a great course. I like the balance between theoretical lectures and practical hands-on classes."
